Quick answer: The iCodejr Academic Excellence Scholarship takes 20% to 50% off our live 1-on-1 coding, AI and robotics classes for students aged 5 to 18 who get A grades or 90%+ at school. The longer the plan, the bigger the discount, up to 50% on our General plan. It’s open all year to new and existing students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the rest of the UAE and abroad.
Most scholarships you’ll come across in the UAE are for university students. If you’ve ever looked for coding scholarships for kids in Dubai, or any scholarship for a school-age child, you’ll know how little there is. Few programs reward children for doing well now, while they’re still working out what they enjoy.
We wanted to do something about that for our own students. So if your child is bringing home A grades, we’ll take up to half off the cost of learning to code with us. There’s no essay, no entrance test and no deadline. You send us their latest school report, and within two working days we’ll tell you what they qualify for.
Here’s how it works.

What is the Academic Excellence Scholarship?
It’s a merit scholarship for school students: children who do well academically pay less for iCodejr classes, and the discount grows with the plan you choose.
Nothing else about the classes changes. Scholarship students have the same instructors, the same live 1-on-1 lessons and the same curriculum as everyone else. There’s no separate “scholarship group” and no reduced number of sessions.
Why do we reward school grades?
Partly because it’s fair. A child who has put the work in at school deserves some credit for it.
There’s a practical reason too. Coding rewards the same habits that good grades do: concentrating, practising, and not giving up when something doesn’t work the first time. A child who already has those habits usually finds the jump from block coding in Scratch to typing real Python a lot less daunting. We’d rather that child spend their time building things than have their parents spend weeks deciding whether the fees are worth it.
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Your child can apply if they:
- are between 5 and 18 years old
- got A grades or 90%+ on their most recent school report. If their school doesn’t give grades yet (common in KG and the early primary years), an equivalent top rating such as “exceeding expectations” counts.
- are a new or existing iCodejr student. Existing students can use it when they renew or move to their next plan.
- live in the UAE or abroad. Classes are online, so location doesn’t matter.
They don’t need any coding experience. Every program starts from the beginning.
How much is the scholarship worth?
It depends on the plan. Shorter plans get a smaller discount, and our longest plan, General, gets the full 50%.
| Plan | Sessions | Duration | Full price | Scholarship | You pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cadet | 24 | 3–4 months | AED 1,800 | 20% | AED 1,440 |
| Captain | 48 | 5–6 months | AED 3,360 | 30% | AED 2,352 |
| Colonel | 96 | 9–12 months | AED 6,240 | 40% | AED 3,744 |
| General | 144 | 18–24 months | AED 8,640 | 50% | AED 4,320 |
On the General plan, that brings a live 1-on-1 session down from AED 60 to AED 30.
What can my child learn with it?
Our plans work on credits, so the scholarship isn’t tied to a single course. A child can start with Scratch, move on to Python, then spend a few months on robotics, all within the same plan.
What that looks like by age:
- 5–6 years: ScratchJr, with simple sequencing and cause-and-effect projects on a tablet
- 7–10 years: Scratch (including games that use AI object recognition), Minecraft coding, Sprite Lab game design and first micro:bit projects
- 11 and up: Python, JavaScript, web development, game creation and generative AI
- Robotics, any age: micro:bit sensors and hands-on robotics projects
Classes are live and 1-on-1, 40 minutes for KG-1 (ages 5–6) and 50 minutes from age 7, booked at times that work around school. The only thing the scholarship doesn’t cover is hardware: robotics kits such as micro:bit boards are charged at cost. You can see every program on our courses page.

Does the scholarship renew?
Yes. When you renew or move to the next plan, send us your child’s latest report. If it still shows A grades or 90%+, the scholarship carries over.
A few tips before the trial class
You don’t need to prepare your child, but a few things help:
- Have the report ready. It’s the only document we ask for.
- Try Scratch for 20 minutes beforehand if they’ve never coded. Not to practise, just so the screen isn’t completely new.
- Let your child drive the trial. Encourage them to ask questions and try things, even if they get it wrong.
- Keep it manageable. Once classes start, one or two sessions a week fits comfortably alongside school.
Taking it further: competitions and hackathons
Some students want to test what they’ve learned against others. AI competitions in the UAE and school hackathons are good places to do that. They also give your child finished projects to talk about later, whether that’s in a school interview or a university application.
