You’ve found a coding class your child might love, but the price says “on request”. Or you have three quotes that can’t be compared: one per term, one per month and one per class. This guide explains how coding classes for kids are priced in the UAE, what really changes the cost, what we charge at iCodejr, and how your child can start for free.

Quick answer: Coding classes for kids in Dubai and the UAE are sold per term, per month, per class or as camps, so headline prices rarely compare like for like. The fairest test is the price of one class, how long it lasts, and how many children share the teacher. At iCodejr, the first class is free. After that, live one-to-one online classes cost AED 60 to AED 75 each (plus VAT), depending on the package size. Good free tools, such as Scratch and our own Bloqi, let children try coding before you pay for anything.

How are coding classes for kids priced in the UAE?

You’ll usually see one of five pricing models. Each suits a different kind of family, and each comes with a question worth asking first:

How it’s soldWhat you usually getSuitsAsk before you pay
Per termA weekly group class at a centre or school club, paid upfrontChildren who like a fixed routine with friendsHow many children share one teacher?
Monthly subscriptionA set number of classes each month, often in a groupFamilies who want to pay as they goDoes it renew automatically? Do unused classes carry over?
Package of classesA block of classes you book when it suits youBusy weeks, one-to-one learningCan you switch subjects? How long is the package meant to last?
Camps and workshopsSeveral days of activities in a school breakTrying a new topic in the holidaysHow many hours a day? What’s included?
Recorded coursesVideos and exercises your child works through aloneOlder, self-motivated childrenWho helps when your child is stuck?

What changes the price of a coding class?

  • Group or one-to-one. A group class costs less per child, but the teacher’s time is shared. In a one-to-one class, the teacher watches every step your child takes and explains each mistake as it happens.
  • Live or recorded. Recorded courses are the cheapest, but nobody is there to answer a question at the moment it comes up.
  • Class length. A 50-minute class and a 90-minute class aren’t the same product. Work out what each hour costs instead of looking only at the class price.
  • Subject and equipment. Robotics needs a kit. Ask whether it’s included, charged separately, or bought by you.
  • How much you buy at once. Larger packages and longer terms usually bring the price per class down.
  • Extras. Registration fees, materials, certificates and VAT can add to the headline price, so ask what’s included.

A simple way to compare any two offers: divide the total by the number of classes, then think about how much of the teacher’s attention your child gets in each one. A cheaper group class shared by eight children can work out dearer per minute of real help than a one-to-one class.

What does iCodejr cost?

Every class in our packages is live, online and one-to-one: one teacher and one child, for 50 minutes (40 minutes for ages 5–6). Instead of a monthly fee, you choose a package of class credits, and one credit pays for one class. Prices are in UAE dirhams and don’t include 5% VAT:

Seasonal offers

Ask about this season's offer before you choose

We run offers several times a year, including in winter and summer, so you may pay less than the prices above. Message us and we'll tell you what's on right now.

One package covers every subject, so the same credits pay for any of our courses in coding, robotics, AI or maths, and your child can change course without buying a new plan. Classes run in English or Arabic, in the morning, afternoon, evening or at weekends, and certificates are awarded for each module your child completes.

For online robotics classes, children start with the coding the robot will need, and we ship the kit to families in the UAE in the meantime. The kit is charged at cost, separately from classes. Families outside the UAE get a link to a suitable kit they can buy locally. Holiday camps are priced on their own, from AED 400 a month for 8 sessions.

VIP programme. iCodejr VIP is our premium service, with senior instructors, written progress reports after classes and a dedicated relationship manager. It’s the only option we also teach in person: from AED 125 an hour online, or from AED 250 an hour at your home.

“I think the biggest compliment I can give is that my son never complains about attending class. He actually enjoys it.”

— Rania T., parent of Yusuf

Are there scholarships or discounts?

Yes. Children with A grades or 90% and above can apply for our Academic Excellence Scholarship, which takes a share off every class. The bigger the package, the bigger the discount:

PackageScholarship discount
Cadet20%
Captain30%
Colonel40%
General50%

The scholarship is open to new and existing students, in the UAE and abroad. We also run seasonal offers a few times a year (see the box above), so it’s worth asking what’s on before you choose a package.

Can my child try a coding class for free?

Yes. Your child’s first iCodejr class is free, and it can be coding, robotics or AI. The teacher works one-to-one with your child on a small project, gets a sense of their level, and suggests where they should start. You’ll see how your child gets on with a real teacher before spending anything. Our guide to coding trial classes explains what happens in the class and what to look out for.

Free ways for kids to learn coding

You don’t need to pay anything to find out whether your child enjoys coding. These are free and safe for children:

Free optionAgesWhat it’s good for
ScratchJr (tablet app)5–7First steps: picture blocks that make characters move and talk
Scratch8–16Games, animations and stories. Our free Scratch game tutorials walk through 18 projects
BloqiAny ageOur own browser-based coding space: Jr Blocks, Bloqi Studio and an AI Sandbox, free for every child
Teachable Machine7+Training a simple AI model with pictures, sounds or poses
Python10+Free to install. Our Python for kids guide shows how to start at home
Code BattleGrades 1–12iCodejr’s inter-school hackathon for school teams, held every year and always free to enter
Three boys sit at laptops with block-coding projects on screen during a coding session in a Dubai mall
Children try block coding at an iCodejr coding and robotics event at Silicon Central Mall, Dubai.

Free tools are a great way to start. Children usually get stuck at the next step: a bug they can’t fix, or no idea what to build next. That’s when a teacher is worth paying for, because a class turns one-off experiments into steady progress. Our guides to Scratch for kids and AI for kids have more free ideas.

“The teacher really understands how to keep my child interested. Even when something is difficult, the class never feels stressful.”

— Amal S., parent of Adam

What to ask before you pay for coding classes

Whichever provider you’re considering, these questions make prices easier to compare:

  1. What’s the price per class, and how long is each class?
  2. How many children share one teacher?
  3. Is the class live or recorded, and who helps between classes?
  4. Is there a free trial, and do you need to pay anything to book it?
  5. What if your child misses a class, or decides it’s not for them?
  6. Are kits, materials, certificates or VAT extra?
